Fenticonazole 2% w/w Vaginal Cream, 30g

Fenticonazole 2% w/w Vaginal Cream is an imidazole antifungal used for vulvovaginal candidiasis, also called vaginal thrush. It treats Candida infection associated with itching, soreness and abnormal discharge.
Wash your hands before and after use. Introduce the cream into the vagina using the applicator, usually at bedtime. Complete the vaginal treatment course even if itching settles earlier. Keep the cream away from the eyes and do not swallow it.
Fenticonazole interferes with production of ergosterol, an essential part of the fungal cell membrane. Damage to this membrane inhibits growth of susceptible Candida fungi.
Brief local burning, stinging, itching or redness may occur. Persistent irritation, marked swelling or a spreading rash can indicate sensitivity to the preparation.
The cream can damage latex condoms and diaphragms. Avoid vaginal intercourse, tampons and vaginal douches during treatment. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, recurrent thrush or symptoms accompanied by fever, pelvic pain or bleeding need assessment before treatment.
Delivers antifungal treatment directly to the affected area and can reduce thrush-related soreness and discomfort as the infection clears.
No. It is an antifungal. It does not contain a corticosteroid and treats a fungal cause rather than simply suppressing inflammation.
No. Bacterial vaginosis, sexually transmitted infections and other conditions can cause similar symptoms. A fishy smell, green discharge, pelvic pain or bleeding is not typical uncomplicated thrush.
Menstrual flow can wash vaginal cream away. A course is generally timed to finish before menstruation rather than started during it.
Repeated episodes may need confirmation that Candida is the cause and assessment for contributing factors such as diabetes or recent antibiotic use. Repeated self-treatment can delay the correct diagnosis.
Not routinely when the partner has no symptoms. A partner with genital redness, itching or soreness needs assessment rather than automatically sharing the vaginal preparation.
