Dasatinib 70mg is a BCR-ABL tyrosine-kinase inhibitor used for selected Philadelphia-chromosome-positive leukaemias, including chronic myeloid leukaemia. Disease phase, prior treatment and molecular findings guide its use.
How to use
Take the tablet with or without food and swallow it whole. Avoid proton-pump inhibitors and H2 blockers; separate ordinary antacids by at least two hours before or after the dose.
How it works
Inhibition of BCR-ABL and selected other kinases interrupts signalling that drives proliferation of susceptible leukaemic cells.
Side effects
Low blood counts, diarrhoea, headache, rash and fluid retention may occur.
Important information
Monitor blood counts and respiratory symptoms. Pleural effusion, pulmonary arterial hypertension, serious bleeding and QT effects need attention; grapefruit and strong CYP3A4 interactions can alter exposure.

Yes. New cough or breathlessness needs prompt assessment for pleural effusion and other causes.
Can tablets be crushed?
No. Swallow whole and avoid exposure to broken-tablet contents.
Does bruising need attention?
Yes. Low platelets and impaired platelet function can increase bleeding risk.
Can grapefruit affect treatment?
Yes. It can alter drug exposure through CYP3A4 interactions.
Is pregnancy safe during treatment?
It can harm a fetus; contraception and pregnancy planning need oncology guidance.
Can therapy stop after a good blood-count result?
Not on that basis alone. Any treatment-free strategy requires specialist eligibility and close molecular monitoring.
