Rivaroxaban 2.5mg Tablets

Rivaroxaban 2.5mg is the low-dose vascular presentation of a factor-Xa inhibitor used with low-dose aspirin in selected adults with coronary or peripheral artery disease. This regimen aims to reduce major cardiovascular or limb-related thrombotic events and is distinct from full-dose treatment for atrial fibrillation or an acute venous clot.
The vascular regimen uses one 2.5mg tablet twice daily, with or without food, together with the planned low-dose aspirin. Do not add extra aspirin or substitute this low-dose regimen for a full-dose anticoagulation schedule.
Rivaroxaban directly inhibits activated factor X, or factor Xa. This reduces thrombin generation and the formation of fibrin clots without acting as a platelet inhibitor like aspirin.
Bruising, nosebleeds, gum bleeding and anaemia can occur. Bleeding that will not stop, black stools, blood in urine, vomiting blood, a severe headache after a fall or sudden weakness needs urgent assessment.
Active significant bleeding, severe liver disease with impaired clotting and major kidney impairment are important contraindication or dose-selection issues. Strong CYP3A4/P-glycoprotein inhibitors or inducers can alter exposure. Tell the procedural team before spinal injections, surgery or dental procedures. NSAIDs, other anticoagulants and antiplatelets can increase bleeding.
Adds factor-Xa inhibition to aspirin's antiplatelet action in an appropriate vascular-risk regimen. This additional protection also increases bleeding risk compared with antiplatelet treatment alone.
It is not the standard atrial-fibrillation anticoagulation regimen. This low-dose presentation has a different vascular indication and must not replace a full-dose schedule.
Aspirin targets platelets while rivaroxaban targets factor Xa. The combination addresses two clotting pathways in selected coronary or peripheral artery disease.
Do not add extra aspirin independently. The vascular regimen already includes an antiplatelet amount and additional aspirin can increase bleeding.
No. Significant bleeding remains possible, especially with aspirin, another anticoagulant, an NSAID or impaired kidney function.
