Aceclofenac 100mg + Drotaverine 80mg Tablets

Product Introduction

Aceclofenac 100mg + Drotaverine 80mg is used for painful abdominal smooth-muscle spasm when both cramp relief and anti-inflammatory pain control are needed. This combination is distinct from aceclofenac products containing a skeletal-muscle relaxant, which are used for a different type of muscle pain.

How to use

Take the tablet with water during or after food. Treatment is generally limited to the painful episode. Do not combine it with another NSAID such as ibuprofen, naproxen or diclofenac; doing so increases adverse effects without providing a corresponding improvement in spasm control.

How it works

Aceclofenac reduces prostaglandin formation through cyclo-oxygenase inhibition. Drotaverine increases cyclic AMP in smooth-muscle cells, helping the contracted muscle relax.

Side effects

Indigestion, nausea, stomach discomfort, dizziness and diarrhoea can occur. Gastrointestinal bleeding, marked swelling, reduced urination, severe wheezing or fainting require urgent attention.

Important information

Tell your doctor about ulcers or previous gastrointestinal bleeding, heart disease, kidney or liver disease, low blood pressure and reactions to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Anticoagulants, antiplatelet medicines and certain antidepressants increase bleeding risk. Avoid use in late pregnancy. Drotaverine can reduce the effect of levodopa.
