Celecoxib 100mg Capsules

Product Introduction

Celecoxib 100mg is a selective COX-2 NSAID used to relieve pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and selected acute-pain or menstrual-pain conditions. It provides non-opioid pain relief.

How to use

Swallow the capsule with water, with or without food; food can reduce stomach upset. Do not combine celecoxib with another NSAID or extend the course without assessing stomach, kidney and cardiovascular risks.

How it works

Celecoxib selectively inhibits COX-2, an enzyme involved in making inflammatory prostaglandins. Lower prostaglandin levels reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation.

Side effects

Possible effects include indigestion, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, gas, dizziness, swelling, raised blood pressure, and respiratory symptoms. Serious warning signs include chest pain, weakness on one side, black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, reduced urination, severe rash, or swelling of face/throat.

Important information

Avoid use after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Discuss use in heart disease, stroke risk, ulcer or bleeding history, kidney/liver disease, high blood pressure, asthma, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and use with blood thinners, aspirin, steroids, SSRIs/SNRIs, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, diuretics, or lithium. Avoid NSAIDs from 20 weeks of pregnancy unless specifically necessary under obstetric supervision, and avoid them from 30 weeks because of fetal kidney and heart risks.
