Product Introduction

Verapamil 120mg SR is a calcium-channel blocker used for high blood pressure, angina, and selected heart-rhythm disorders for verapamil treatment. It relaxes blood vessels and slows electrical conduction through the AV node, reducing blood-pressure load and helping control certain fast heart rhythms. Sustained-release forms are designed for gradual drug release and should be used exactly as directed. Verapamil is not suitable for some patients with severe low blood pressure, advanced heart block without a pacemaker, sick sinus syndrome, severe heart failure, certain ventricular tachycardias, or recent use of interacting medicines. Important interaction review includes beta-blockers, digoxin, statins, antiarrhythmics, blood-pressure medicines, grapefruit, CYP3A4 inhibitors, lithium, and ivabradine.

How to use

Take Verapamil 120mg SR as prescribed at the same time each day. Do not crush sustained-release tablets unless the exact product instructions allow it.

How it works

Verapamil blocks calcium entry into cardiac and vascular smooth muscle cells, relaxing vessels and slowing AV-node conduction.

Common side effects

Possible effects include constipation, dizziness, headache, nausea, tiredness, ankle swelling, low blood pressure, and slow pulse. Serious concerns include heart block, worsening heart failure, fainting, and significant rhythm changes.

Review heart block, heart failure, low blood pressure, liver disease, kidney disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, beta-blockers, digoxin, statins, antiarrhythmics, grapefruit, CYP3A4 inhibitors, and pulse/BP monitoring.
