Upadacitinib 30mg ER tablet is an extended-release JAK inhibitor used in selected atopic-dermatitis regimens and maintenance treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. It is a different treatment stage from the 45mg bowel-disease induction regimen.
How to use
Swallow the extended-release tablet whole with water at a consistent time, with or without food. Do not crush, split or chew it. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, which can increase upadacitinib exposure.
How it works
Upadacitinib inhibits JAK-mediated cytokine signaling, reducing immune-driven inflammation in selected inflammatory diseases.
Side effects
Possible effects include upper respiratory infection, nausea, acne, headache, fever, cough, herpes zoster, raised cholesterol, and lab changes. Serious concerns include severe infection, TB, malignancy, MACE, thrombosis, GI perforation, liver injury, low blood counts, and allergic reaction.
Important information
Tell your doctor about infection symptoms, tuberculosis or hepatitis, heart or blood-vessel risk, smoking, cancer, blood clots or diverticulitis. Mention pregnancy, breastfeeding, vaccination plans, medicines affecting CYP3A4 and other immunosuppressants. Screening and monitoring include blood counts, liver tests and cholesterol levels.

Can tablets be split?
No. Splitting, crushing or chewing disrupts the extended-release tablet. A visible tablet remnant in stool does not by itself mean the medicine has failed, but repeated intact remnants should be reported.
What infection symptoms matter?
Fever, persistent cough, shingles rash, painful urination, wounds, or feeling very unwell should be reported promptly.
Are live vaccines allowed?
Live vaccines are generally avoided during therapy; vaccination should be reviewed before starting.
