Trinbelimab 300mcg/mL Injection

Trinbelimab 300mcg/mL is a recombinant anti-D antibody used to prevent Rh sensitisation in an Rh-negative mother after exposure to an Rh-positive baby's red blood cells. Preventing these antibodies helps protect a current or future Rh-positive pregnancy from haemolytic disease.
A doctor or nurse injects it into the deltoid muscle. It must not be injected into a vein or given to the newborn. Following a sensitising event or delivery, administration is generally arranged within 72 hours; antenatal prophylaxis and any additional dose depend on pregnancy timing and the amount of fetal blood exposure.
Trinbelimab binds the Rh-D antigen on fetal red blood cells that enter the mother's circulation. Their removal helps prevent the mother's immune system from developing a lasting anti-D antibody response.
Pain, redness, warmth or swelling at the injection site may occur. Fever, flushing, headache or chills are also possible. Hives with facial swelling, wheezing or faintness can indicate a severe allergic reaction and need emergency treatment.
Rh-D blood group and an antibody screen determine whether prophylaxis is suitable. It does not reverse sensitisation once immune anti-D antibodies have developed. Keep refrigerated at 2-8 degrees C and do not freeze. Tell the maternity team about previous severe reactions to immunoglobulins.
Reduces the chance of a maternal immune response that could destroy an Rh-positive baby's red blood cells. It provides passive protection without requiring the mother to produce her own anti-D antibodies.
No. Its purpose is to prevent an immune reaction to Rh-positive red blood cells, not to treat bacteria or viruses.
An Rh-positive newborn can expose the mother to additional red blood cells during delivery. Postnatal prophylaxis can therefore still be needed after an antenatal dose.
They contain different amounts of anti-D antibody. Pregnancy stage and the sensitising event determine the amount required; the smaller presentation is not automatically a substitute for the larger one.
Contact the maternity team promptly rather than assuming protection is no longer possible. They can assess the exposure, antibody results and whether delayed prophylaxis may still help.
