Product Introduction

Trimethoprim 100mg is an antibiotic used for susceptible bacterial infections, especially urinary-tract infections, for trimethoprim treatment. It blocks bacterial folate production, which bacteria need for DNA synthesis and growth. It should be used only when bacterial infection is proven or strongly suspected, because unnecessary antibiotic use increases resistance and can expose patients to avoidable side effects. Extra caution is needed with methotrexate, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, spironolactone, potassium supplements, phenytoin, warfarin, and other medicines that affect folate, potassium, kidneys, or bleeding risk.

How to use

Take Trimethoprim 100mg for the exact prescribed duration. Drink fluids as advised and do not use leftover antibiotics for future urinary symptoms.

How it works

Trimethoprim inhibits bacterial dihydrofolate reductase, reducing folate-dependent DNA synthesis and bacterial growth.

Common side effects

Possible effects include nausea, vomiting, appetite loss, rash, itching, and stomach discomfort. Serious concerns include severe rash, blood disorders, high potassium, kidney issues, liver injury, and allergic reaction.
