Product Introduction

Topiramate 200mg is an anti-seizure medicine used for epilepsy and for migraine prevention for topiramate treatment. In epilepsy, it may be used as monotherapy or add-on therapy for certain seizure types, including partial-onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and seizures linked with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. For migraine, it helps reduce attack frequency but does not treat a migraine that has already started. Topiramate affects neuronal excitability through several actions, including sodium-channel modulation, GABA enhancement, glutamate-receptor inhibition, and carbonic anhydrase inhibition.

How to use

Take Topiramate 200mg exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Swallow with water, keep regular timing, stay well hydrated, and do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

How it works

Topiramate reduces abnormal nerve firing through multiple mechanisms, including sodium-channel effects, enhanced GABA activity, reduced glutamate activity, and weak carbonic anhydrase inhibition.

Common side effects

Possible effects include tingling, sleepiness, dizziness, fatigue, appetite loss, weight loss, nausea, taste change, memory or concentration problems, and mood changes. Serious concerns include suicidal thoughts, metabolic acidosis, kidney stones, overheating, severe eye pain or vision changes, low ammonia with valproate, and fetal harm.
