Teneligliptin 20mg + Metformin 500mg SR Tablets

Product Introduction

Teneligliptin 20mg + Metformin 500mg combines a DPP-4 inhibitor with sustained-release metformin for type 2 diabetes. It improves glucose-dependent insulin activity and reduces excess glucose production by the liver.

How to use

Take the sustained-release tablet with a meal and swallow it whole. Do not crush or chew it. A temporary interruption may be needed during severe dehydration, major illness or certain iodinated-contrast procedures because of the metformin component.

How it works

Teneligliptin prolongs incretin activity to improve insulin release and reduce glucagon when glucose is high. Metformin lowers hepatic glucose output and improves tissue insulin sensitivity.

Side effects

Nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort and loss of appetite may occur. Long-term metformin can reduce vitamin B12. Persistent severe abdominal pain or profound weakness with rapid breathing needs urgent assessment.

Important information

Kidney function is essential for deciding whether metformin is suitable. Excess alcohol increases lactic-acidosis risk. Insulin and sulfonylureas can add hypoglycaemia risk. Previous pancreatitis and heart rhythm problems should be reported.
