Ondansetron 8mg Tablets

Ondansetron 8mg tablet is an antiemetic used to prevent or treat selected nausea and vomiting, including chemotherapy-, radiotherapy- and surgery-related episodes. It may also be used for some other assessed causes of vomiting.
Swallow the conventional tablet with water, with or without food. Preventive doses are timed before the triggering chemotherapy, radiotherapy or procedure. Do not apply mouth-dissolving or injection instructions to this tablet.
Ondansetron blocks 5-HT3 receptors in the gut and central nervous system, reducing nausea and vomiting signals.
Headache and constipation are common. Some people may also feel dizzy, flushed, or unusually tired. Serious concerns include QT prolongation, irregular heartbeat, serotonin syndrome, severe allergy, and possible masking of bowel obstruction.
Tell the doctor about heart rhythm disease, low potassium or magnesium, liver disease, bowel-obstruction symptoms, pregnancy, breastfeeding, tramadol, SSRIs/SNRIs, serotonergic medicines, or other QT-prolonging drugs.
Can control vomiting and support hydration or treatment completion when matched to the cause.
Ondansetron may be prescribed to prevent or treat nausea and vomiting from suitable triggers.
No. Combining ondansetron with apomorphine can cause profound hypotension and loss of consciousness. The treatment team must select a different antiemetic if apomorphine is being used.
Tell your doctor if you have heart rhythm disease, low potassium or magnesium, liver disease, or symptoms of bowel obstruction. Also mention if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you take tramadol, SSRIs/SNRIs, serotonergic medicines, or other QT-prolonging drugs.
Headache and constipation can occur. Seek urgent help for palpitations with fainting, a severe allergic reaction, or fever with agitation and muscle stiffness. Increasing abdominal swelling, severe pain or inability to pass stool or gas needs assessment for obstruction.
