Product Introduction

Montelukast 5mg + Levocetirizine 2.5mg is a lower-strength anti-allergy combination used for allergic rhinitis, particularly in paediatric treatment plans. It helps control sneezing, nasal itching, a runny or blocked nose and watery eyes through complementary antihistamine and leukotriene-blocking actions.

How to use

Disperse the tablet in a small amount of water and give the entire mixture immediately. Rinse the container with a little more water and give that too so none of the dose is left behind. Give it at a consistent daily time, with or without food; do not substitute an adult-strength tablet.

How it works

Levocetirizine blocks histamine H1 receptors to reduce itching, sneezing and watery discharge. Montelukast blocks cysteinyl-leukotriene receptors, reducing leukotriene-related swelling and secretions in the airways and nasal passages.

Side effects

Sleepiness, tiredness, headache, dry mouth and abdominal discomfort may occur. New nightmares, agitation, depressed mood, unusual behaviour or thoughts of self-harm need prompt attention: stop the montelukast-containing medicine and contact the prescriber immediately.

Important information

Tell your child's doctor about kidney disease, difficulty passing urine or a history of mood or sleep problems. Age and kidney function influence whether this fixed-dose combination is suitable. Sedating cough-and-cold medicines can add to drowsiness. It does not replace the child's reliever inhaler for sudden wheezing.
