This treatment is for type 2 diabetes and is not used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Drink enough fluids and watch for symptoms of urinary infection, genital infection, dehydration, or low blood sugar, especially if used with insulin or a sulfonylurea.
