Ivermectin 60mg Tablets

Product Introduction

Ivermectin 60mg is an oral antiparasitic medicine used for susceptible worm infections, including intestinal strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis (river blindness). It is also used for scabies in selected treatment regimens.

How to use

Take the calculated oral dose with water. For intestinal strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis, use an empty stomach. Scabies regimens use food to improve absorption. Body weight and the infection determine the amount and repeat-treatment interval; this high-strength tablet is not a routine single-tablet dose.

How it works

Ivermectin activates glutamate-gated chloride channels in susceptible parasites, disrupting nerve and muscle activity and causing paralysis and death. In onchocerciasis it targets developing microfilariae, not the adult worms.

Side effects

Nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness, abdominal discomfort, tiredness, itching or rash can occur. In onchocerciasis, reactions to dying parasites may cause fever, swollen glands, joint pain or eye symptoms. Severe skin reactions, fainting, confusion, seizures, difficulty walking or sudden vision changes need urgent medical attention.

Important information

Tell your doctor about liver disease, immune-system problems, seizures or other neurological illness, pregnancy, breastfeeding and blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin. Mention residence or travel in Loa loa-endemic areas of Central or West Africa because heavy infection can cause severe neurological reactions. Safety in children weighing less than 15kg and during pregnancy is not established.
