Product Introduction

Atorvastatin 10mg + Clopidogrel 75mg combines atorvastatin with clopidogrel. It is used in selected cardiovascular patients who need LDL cholesterol control plus antiplatelet therapy to reduce clot-related risk after conditions such as heart attack, stroke/TIA, peripheral arterial disease, or coronary stent placement when prescribed. Atorvastatin lowers LDL and supports plaque stabilization, while clopidogrel reduces platelet activation through the P2Y12 pathway. This is a prevention-focused medicine, not a treatment for sudden chest pain or stroke symptoms. Clopidogrel increases bleeding risk and its effect can be reduced in some patients with CYP2C19 loss-of-function genetics or by interacting medicines such as omeprazole/esomeprazole.

How to use

Take Atorvastatin 10mg + Clopidogrel 75mg exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. It can usually be taken with or without food. Do not stop before procedures or dental work unless the prescribing clinician gives a plan. Avoid adding aspirin, NSAIDs, or blood thinners without review.

How it works

Atorvastatin lowers cholesterol production in the liver. Clopidogrel is converted to an active metabolite that blocks platelet P2Y12 receptors, reducing platelet aggregation and clot formation.

Common side effects

Possible effects include bruising, nosebleeds, stomach upset, diarrhoea, rash, headache, muscle aches, and abnormal liver tests. Serious concerns include major bleeding, black stools, vomiting blood, stroke-like symptoms, severe rash, jaundice, severe muscle weakness, dark urine, or signs of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura such as fever, confusion, and purple spots.

Important information

Bleeding history, stomach ulcer, liver disease, kidney disease, planned surgery, pregnancy, breastfeeding, CYP2C19 poor-metabolizer risk, and medicines such as omeprazole, esomeprazole, anticoagulants, NSAIDs, and other antiplatelets should be reviewed. Tell all healthcare providers that clopidogrel is being used.
