Empagliflozin 25mg Tablets

Empagliflozin 25mg is an SGLT2 inhibitor used in adults with type 2 diabetes and in selected heart-failure or chronic kidney disease care plans. For glucose control, it helps the kidneys pass excess glucose into urine, lowering blood sugar independently of insulin release. Use is limited to type 2 diabetes management. It should not be used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Rare serious perineal infection has also been reported with SGLT2 inhibitors. Temporary holding may be needed before surgery, prolonged fasting, serious illness, dehydration, or major diet change.
Take Empagliflozin 25mg once daily as prescribed, usually in the morning, with or without food. Stay hydrated and follow sick-day, surgery, fasting, and glucose-monitoring instructions.
Empagliflozin blocks SGLT2 transporters in the kidney, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing glucose excretion in urine. This also affects sodium-fluid handling relevant to heart and kidney outcomes.
Possible effects include increased urination, thirst, genital fungal infection, urinary infection, dizziness, low blood pressure, nausea, and dehydration. Serious warning signs include ketoacidosis symptoms, severe infection, perineal pain/swelling, kidney problems, or allergic reaction.
Review kidney function, type 1 diabetes, ketoacidosis history, recurrent urinary/genital infections, dehydration, low blood pressure, diuretics, older age, pregnancy, breastfeeding, fasting, surgery, ketogenic diet, insulin, and sulfonylurea use.
Lowers glucose through urinary glucose excretion and may provide heart or kidney outcome benefits in selected patients.
Empagliflozin 25mg is used for type 2 diabetes and may be prescribed for selected heart or kidney protection indications.
That is part of how empagliflozin works: it reduces kidney glucose reabsorption so glucose leaves in urine.
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, unusual tiredness, breathing difficulty, fruity breath, or confusion need urgent care.
Yes. More glucose in urine can increase genital fungal infection risk.
Surgery and fasting can raise ketoacidosis risk, so temporary holding may be advised.
