Doxofylline 100mg/10mL Injection is a bronchodilator used for asthma- or COPD-related airway narrowing when injectable treatment is needed. It helps relieve bronchospasm and improve airflow.
How to use
A doctor or nurse gives doxofylline by slow intravenous administration in a clinical setting, not as a rapid bolus. Breathing, pulse and symptoms such as palpitations are monitored. The amount and rate are selected for the patient rather than by assuming that one 10mL ampoule is a complete dose.
How it works
Doxofylline relaxes bronchial smooth muscle and helps widen airways, reducing airflow resistance in obstructive airway disease.
Side effects
Possible effects include nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, headache, restlessness, insomnia, fast heartbeat, tremor, and dizziness. Serious warning signs include severe palpitations, seizure, chest pain, severe vomiting, or worsening breathing.
Important information
Tell the clinician about heart rhythm problems, seizure disorder, liver/kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, stomach ulcer, smoking changes, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and all asthma/COPD medicines. Do not stop inhaled controller therapy unless advised.

Does 100mg/10mL mean 100mg in each millilitre?
No. There is 100mg in the full 10mL volume, equivalent to 10mg/mL. The volume administered depends on the required treatment amount.

No. Sudden severe breathlessness needs the prescribed reliever inhaler and urgent care if not improving.
Can Doxofylline 100mg/10mL cause palpitations?
Yes. Fast heartbeat or palpitations can occur and should be reviewed if troublesome or severe.
Why must other bronchodilators be mentioned before an injection?
Other xanthines and some airway-opening medicines can add to nausea, tremor or a fast heartbeat. The treating team needs the names and timing of recent respiratory medicines before giving additional bronchodilator treatment.
What breathing symptoms need urgent care?
Severe wheeze, blue lips, chest pain, inability to speak, or poor response to reliever inhaler needs urgent care.
