Product Introduction

Amisulpride 100mg is an antipsychotic used in schizophrenia, including symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, disorganised thinking, reduced motivation and social withdrawal. Treatment targets the balance of these symptoms rather than acting as an ordinary sleeping tablet.

How to use

Swallow the tablet with water before a meal and keep its timing consistent. The total daily amount may be taken once or divided according to the treatment regimen. Dose changes are gradual, and regular treatment should not be stopped suddenly because symptoms and withdrawal effects can occur.

How it works

Amisulpride acts mainly at dopamine D2 and D3 receptors. Its effects on dopamine signalling help reduce psychotic symptoms; the balance of effects differs with the dose and the symptom pattern being treated.

Side effects

Restlessness, tremor, muscle stiffness, sleepiness, constipation, weight gain and raised prolactin may occur. High fever with rigid muscles and confusion, fainting with palpitations or a new involuntary movement needs urgent assessment.

Important information

Kidney function affects how quickly the medicine leaves the body. Tell your doctor about seizures, diabetes, a slow heartbeat, low potassium or magnesium, and prolactin-sensitive tumours. Levodopa and medicines that prolong the QT interval can create important interactions. Blood glucose, weight and movement symptoms are monitored during treatment.
