Product Introduction

Alfuzosin 10mg + Dutasteride 0.5mg combines an alpha-blocker with a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor for urinary symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate. One component relaxes the bladder outlet while the other gradually reduces hormone-driven prostate enlargement.

How to use

Take the tablet after the same meal each day. Swallow it whole rather than crushing or chewing it. Improvement from muscle relaxation may occur sooner than the prostate-shrinking benefit, which develops over months.

How it works

Alfuzosin relaxes alpha-1-mediated smooth-muscle tone in the prostate and bladder neck. Dutasteride inhibits both types of 5-alpha-reductase, reducing dihydrotestosterone and gradually decreasing prostate volume.

Side effects

Dizziness, headache, low blood pressure, reduced libido, erectile difficulty or altered ejaculation may occur. Fainting, a prolonged painful erection or a new breast lump needs medical assessment.

Important information

Dutasteride lowers PSA levels, so prostate-screening results need interpretation in the context of treatment. Pregnant women must not handle crushed or broken tablets because dutasteride can affect a male fetus. Mention liver disease, cataract surgery, other alpha-blockers and strong CYP3A4 inhibitors.
