Product Introduction
Fluoxetine 60mg is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor used for depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, bulimia nervosa, and selected premenstrual dysphoric disorder or anxiety-related plans for fluoxetine treatment. It increases serotonin signalling by reducing serotonin reuptake in nerve synapses. Fluoxetine has a long half-life and can interact for weeks after stopping. It must not be combined with MAO inhibitors, and caution is needed with other serotonergic medicines, triptans, tramadol, linezolid, lithium, St John's wort, NSAIDs, anticoagulants, antiplatelets, and alcohol.
How to use
Take Fluoxetine 60mg as prescribed, usually once daily. Take consistently and do not stop suddenly. Report mood worsening, agitation, suicidal thoughts, manic symptoms, serotonin-syndrome symptoms, or severe side effects promptly.
How it works
Fluoxetine selectively inhibits serotonin reuptake, increasing serotonin availability in the brain circuits involved in mood, anxiety, compulsive behaviour, and appetite regulation.
Common side effects
Possible effects include nausea, headache, insomnia or sleepiness, anxiety, sweating, tremor, diarrhoea, dry mouth, appetite or weight change, and sexual dysfunction. Serious warning signs include suicidal thoughts, mania, serotonin syndrome, seizures, severe rash, abnormal bleeding, or severe low-sodium symptoms.
Important information
Review bipolar disorder, seizure disorder, liver disease, diabetes, glaucoma, bleeding risk, low sodium risk, pregnancy, breastfeeding, MAO inhibitors, other antidepressants, triptans, tramadol, lithium, linezolid, St John's wort, NSAIDs, anticoagulants, and alcohol use.
Uses
Depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, bulimia nervosa, and selected PMDD or anxiety-related treatment plans when prescribed.
Benefits
Can improve mood, panic symptoms, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and bulimia-related symptoms over time when taken consistently with monitoring.
