Product Introduction
Doxycycline 100mg is a tetracycline antibiotic used for susceptible bacterial infections and selected inflammatory acne regimens. It may be prescribed for respiratory infections, urinary or genital infections, skin and soft-tissue infections, eye infections, tick-borne infections, rickettsial infections, cholera, malaria prevention or treatment combinations, and acne for doxycycline treatment. It works by blocking bacterial protein synthesis, which stops susceptible bacteria from multiplying. It does not treat viral infections. Doxycycline can irritate the food pipe if taken without enough water or just before lying down, so administration technique matters. Calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, antacids, dairy products, and some supplements can reduce absorption if taken too close. Finish the prescribed course unless the clinician changes it.
How to use
Take Doxycycline 100mg with a full glass of water and remain upright for at least 30 minutes. It may be taken with food if stomach upset occurs. Separate from dairy, antacids, iron, zinc, calcium, or magnesium as advised.
How it works
Doxycycline binds bacterial ribosomes and inhibits protein synthesis. This prevents susceptible bacteria from growing and spreading.
Common side effects
Possible effects include nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, heartburn, food-pipe irritation, headache, yeast infection, and sun sensitivity. Serious warning signs include severe headache with vision changes, severe diarrhoea, allergic swelling, severe rash, liver symptoms, or trouble swallowing.

Discuss pregnancy, breastfeeding, young age, liver disease, lupus, myasthenia gravis, intracranial-pressure history, isotretinoin, retinoids, warfarin, seizure medicines, antacids, iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium, and sun exposure.
