Product Introduction
Ofloxacin 200mg/100mL Infusion is an intravenous fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for susceptible bacterial infections for ofloxacin infusion treatment. It does not treat viral infections.
How to use
Ofloxacin 200mg/100mL Infusion is given by IV infusion by healthcare professionals. Dose, infusion rate, and duration depend on infection type, kidney function, and local protocol. Report tendon, nerve, mood, or rhythm symptoms quickly.
How it works
Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, blocking DNA replication and killing susceptible bacteria.
Common side effects
Possible effects include nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, insomnia, rash, and infusion-site reaction. Serious concerns include tendon rupture, neuropathy, seizures, psychiatric effects, QT prolongation, blood-sugar changes, C. difficile diarrhea, allergic reaction, liver injury, and aortic events.
Important information
Review infection diagnosis, culture results, kidney function, tendon history, steroid use, transplant history, seizure disorder, myasthenia gravis, QT prolongation, diabetes, aneurysm risk, pregnancy, breastfeeding, antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics, warfarin, NSAIDs, and other QT-risk medicines.
Uses
Susceptible bacterial infections requiring intravenous ofloxacin therapy when benefits outweigh fluoroquinolone risks.
Benefits
Provides supervised IV antibacterial treatment for selected infections when ofloxacin susceptibility and patient risk profile support use.
