Product Introduction

Roxithromycin 150mg + Ambroxol 60mg combines a macrolide antibiotic with a mucus-clearing medicine for selected bacterial respiratory infections accompanied by thick sputum. It is not a general treatment for every cough or viral cold.

How to use

Take the oral tablet at evenly spaced treatment times. Roxithromycin is generally taken before meals for reliable absorption. Complete the infection-specific course and maintain adequate fluid intake to support mucus clearance.

How it works

Roxithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis at the 50S ribosome. Ambroxol promotes respiratory secretion clearance and reduces the difficulty of coughing up mucus.

Side effects

Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, altered taste and rash can occur. Severe persistent diarrhoea, jaundice, palpitations or a blistering skin reaction needs prompt assessment.

Important information

Macrolide allergy, prolonged QT interval, low potassium and liver disease are important. Other QT-prolonging medicines can add rhythm risk. Antibiotic use should be based on a likely susceptible bacterial infection, not mucus colour alone.
