Paracetamol 80mg is a rectal formulation for fever and mild-to-moderate pain when an oral preparation is difficult to give. Rectal absorption can be variable, so it is not interchangeable volume for volume with a liquid medicine.
How to use
Unwrap and insert into the rectum using the prescribed age- and weight-appropriate schedule. It must not be swallowed. Do not combine with other paracetamol preparations unless the total dose has been checked.
How it works
Absorbed paracetamol acts centrally on pain signalling and temperature regulation; the suppository is a delivery form rather than a different active ingredient.
Side effects
Local rectal irritation or rash can occur. Excess exposure from repeated or combined products can injure the liver.
Important information
