Omeprazole with domperidone combines acid suppression and an effect on upper-gut motility for selected reflux-related symptoms. Domperidone adds cardiac-risk considerations that are absent from omeprazole alone.
How to use
Swallow the capsule intact with water before a meal, usually 15-30 minutes beforehand. Keep the treatment course short and have persistent nausea or reflux reassessed instead of extending the domperidone combination automatically.
How it works
Omeprazole inhibits gastric proton pumps; domperidone blocks peripheral dopamine D2 receptors, promoting upper-gut motility and reducing nausea signalling.
Side effects
Dry mouth, headache, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea and prolactin-related effects can occur.
Important information
Tell your doctor about heart disease, long-QT syndrome, low potassium or magnesium and medicines that inhibit CYP3A4. Fainting or palpitations during treatment need prompt medical assessment.
