Metformin 500mg + Voglibose 0.2mg SR Tablets

Product Introduction

Metformin 500mg + Voglibose 0.2mg combines metformin with voglibose to improve glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It addresses both excess liver glucose production and the rise in glucose after carbohydrate-containing meals.

How to use

Take the sustained-release tablet with the meal it accompanies and swallow it whole. Do not crush or chew it. A skipped meal changes the need for its meal-linked voglibose component; do not take an extra tablet to compensate later.

How it works

Metformin lowers hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. Voglibose slows intestinal carbohydrate breakdown, reducing rapid glucose absorption after meals.

Side effects

Wind, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal discomfort and reduced appetite can occur. Long-term metformin may lower vitamin B12. Severe weakness, rapid breathing or persistent vomiting can signal the rare emergency of lactic acidosis.

Important information

Kidney function determines whether metformin is suitable. Severe dehydration, major illness, surgery and iodinated contrast procedures can require a temporary treatment interruption. Excess alcohol increases lactic-acidosis risk. Insulin or sulfonylureas add hypoglycaemia risk.
