Flupirtine 100mg + Thiocolchicoside 4mg is an analgesic and muscle-relaxant combination used for acute painful muscle spasm. It addresses pain together with the restricted movement caused by muscle tightness.
How to use
Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food. The oral thiocolchicoside component limits treatment to no more than seven consecutive days. Do not continue or restart the combination for persistent pain. Liver-function monitoring is needed during exposure.
How it works
Flupirtine reduces neuronal excitability through potassium-channel activity, while thiocolchicoside acts on central inhibitory neurotransmitter pathways to reduce muscle spasm.
Side effects
Dizziness, sleepiness, nausea or diarrhoea may occur; liver injury and seizures are important serious risks.
Important information
Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Oral systemic thiocolchicoside is restricted to adults and adolescents aged 16 or older for no more than seven consecutive days; effective contraception is required when pregnancy is possible. Seizure risk and flupirtine-related liver injury also affect suitability.

Can normal liver blood tests rule out liver injury during treatment?

How long is the muscle-relaxant course?
The thiocolchicoside component limits oral treatment to seven consecutive days. Continuing or repeating it for persistent pain needs a new assessment rather than an automatic repeat course.
Can alcohol be taken during treatment?
Avoid it because of liver toxicity and impaired alertness.
What symptoms suggest liver injury?
Yellow eyes, dark urine, loss of appetite or persistent nausea need urgent review.
Does it work like an anti-inflammatory NSAID?
No. Its principal analgesic action differs from cyclo-oxygenase inhibition.
Can I drive if I feel dizzy?
No. Dizziness or tiredness can impair safe driving.
Can another painkiller be added?
Do not add another muscle relaxant, sedating painkiller or potentially liver-toxic medicine. Their effects can add to the seizure, drowsiness and liver risks of this combination.
