Ferric Carboxymaltose 1000mg Injection, 20mL

Ferric Carboxymaltose 1000mg is an intravenous iron replacement medicine used to treat iron-deficiency anemia and anemia due to chronic kidney disease. It is used when oral iron is ineffective, cannot be used, or rapid iron replacement is needed under medical supervision. Ferric carboxymaltose replenishes iron stores needed to make hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells. It is not a general fatigue injection and should be used after iron deficiency is confirmed with blood tests.
Ferric Carboxymaltose 1000mg is administered intravenously by a doctor or nurse. You may be observed during and after dosing for hypersensitivity or blood-pressure reactions. Keep follow-up blood tests to confirm response and avoid excess iron.
Ferric carboxymaltose supplies iron in a carbohydrate complex. The body takes up the iron and uses it to rebuild iron stores and produce hemoglobin in red blood cells.
Possible effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, flushing, injection-site reaction, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, and temporary taste changes. Serious concerns include severe allergic reaction, symptomatic low phosphate, iron overload, chest tightness, fainting, or breathing difficulty.
Use only after iron deficiency is assessed. Tell the clinician about iron overload disorders, repeated IV iron courses, low phosphate risk, kidney disease, liver disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, infection, asthma/allergy history, and previous IV iron reactions.
Replenishes iron stores, supports hemoglobin recovery, and can improve iron-deficiency symptoms when oral iron is not enough or cannot be used.

It replenishes iron stores needed for new red blood cells and hemoglobin.
A healthcare professional gives it by injection or infusion into a vein. Do not self-administer it.

Hemoglobin, ferritin, transferrin saturation, symptoms, and sometimes phosphate are followed after treatment.
