Product Introduction

Cefixime oral suspension is a cephalosporin antibiotic for susceptible bacterial infections, including selected ear, throat, respiratory or urinary infections. Concentration and weight-based prescribing determine the measured dose.

How to use

Shake thoroughly before each dose and measure with an oral syringe. It may be taken with or without food. Prepare, store and discard the reconstituted suspension according to its own label, because use periods vary between products.

How it works

Binding to bacterial penicillin-binding proteins inhibits cell-wall synthesis and leads to death of susceptible bacteria.

Side effects

Diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or rash may occur.

Important information

Tell your doctor about cephalosporin allergy, a serious penicillin reaction or kidney impairment. Persistent or bloody diarrhoea needs medical assessment. Discard reconstituted suspension when its product-specific storage period ends; do not save it for another infection.
