Azelastine with fluticasone propionate is a combination nasal spray for allergic rhinitis. It combines an antihistamine with a corticosteroid to address sneezing, nasal itching, runny nose and congestion associated with allergy.
How to use
Shake the bottle gently and prime the pump away from your face until it produces a fine, even mist before first use. Blow your nose gently, keep your head slightly forward and aim the nozzle away from the nasal septum. Breathe in gently while spraying, then wipe the nozzle and replace the cap.
How it works
Azelastine blocks histamine H1 receptors, reducing immediate allergic symptoms. Fluticasone propionate suppresses inflammatory signaling in the nasal lining.
Side effects
Bitter taste, headache, nasal irritation, nosebleeds and drowsiness can occur. Persistent bleeding, nasal sores or new visual symptoms need assessment.
Important information
Tell your doctor about recent nasal surgery or injury, nasal ulcers, glaucoma, cataracts and other steroid treatment. Ritonavir, cobicistat and other strong CYP3A inhibitors can increase fluticasone exposure. Alcohol and sedatives may worsen azelastine-related sleepiness.

Can this spray treat an asthma attack?
No. It acts in the nose and does not replace a rescue inhaler or emergency asthma treatment.

No. A gentle breath helps keep the dose in the nose; a hard sniff can draw it into the throat and worsen the bitter taste.
Does it work like a rapid decongestant spray?
No. Azelastine can act earlier, but the steroid's full effect develops with regular use. It does not share the same rebound-congestion mechanism as topical vasoconstrictor sprays.
Can I drive after using it?
Azelastine can cause sleepiness. Check how you respond before driving, and avoid alcohol or other sedating medicines that worsen impairment.
What if the nozzle is blocked?
Wipe residue from the nozzle with a clean, damp tissue and let it dry before replacing the cap. Do not use a pin or other sharp object to clear the opening, because this can damage it and change the measured spray.
Can I use the same bottle for someone else?
No. Sharing a nasal nozzle can transfer infection, and another person may need a different strength or treatment.
Does bottle volume describe the amount in each spray?
No. The bottle volume is the total liquid supplied. Each measured spray delivers separately stated microgram amounts of azelastine and fluticasone.
Can I replace it with the fluticasone furoate combination?
Not without checking the prescription. The steroid molecule and per-spray amount differ even though both products contain azelastine.
